Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef arrived in France on Monday evening en route to the US to lead the Saudi delegation participating in the GCC summit with US President Barack Obama at Camp David.

Upon arrival at Paris Charles De Gaulle airport, the Crown Prince was greeted by his Deputy Mohammed bin Salman and International Development of the Republic of France Laurent Fabius.

The Princes detour to France comes just a week after President Hollande attended meetings with the heads of the GCC nations in Riyadh. The GCC does not traditionally invite foreign heads of state to its meetings, but last weeks summit was meant primarily as a show of gratitude for Hollande, who has been very supportive of the Gulf countries.

Hollande said dangers faced by the GCC nations are also faced by France, and that any nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers must not put Gulf nations under threat, pledging France would not hesitate to defend its GCC allies, even with military force.
