As an opening chapter in the realm of amusement parks, Saudi Arabia raises the curtain for the first Dragon Ball centric theme park. Its conception is designed to let visitors explore and engage with the Dragon Ball world, stepping into the animated shoes of Goku and his comrades. The Think Tank behind this venture – The Qiddiya Investment Company – has teased some exclusive previews on the park specifics. Comprising seven themed expanses, inspired by varying incarnations of the Dragon Ball, it will sprawl across a staggering 500,000 square meters. Visitors can anticipate well over 30 rides harmonized with the thematic background, five notable attractions, accommodation hubs and dining establishments.
Drawings encapsulating rough ideas of the park lay bare a few legendary landmarks from the Dragon Ball series. Acknowledgeable in these artworks are the Kame House, the Capsule Corporation and Beerus Planet as well as a massive 70 meter Shenron rollercoaster forming an unforgettable silhouette on the horizon.
The announcement of this park coincides with the 40th anniversary commemoration of the original Dragon Ball manga. This poignant revelation follows closely in the wake of the unfortunate demise of Akira Toriyama, the brain behind Dragon Ball. His departure brought unity amongst fans and peers in the industry, honoring his influential contributions.
Toriyama’s imaginative Dragon Ball world, stemming from the primary franchise, through the widely accepted “Z” series, the contentious GT, and climaxing in the Super, has expanded far beyond its original manga framework. It’s become a pop culture comet streaking across the global entertainment sky. The upcoming theme park stands to offer fans an opportunity to physically embrace this extraordinary world.
