King Salman has issued a decree ordering the sacking of Saudi Commander Lt. Gen. Fahad bin Turki bin Abdul Aziz and Jouf Deputy Gov. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Fahad bin Turki bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud. The King also launched a full investigation into corruption amongst several other top ranking officials.
The sackings were based on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s request that the Control and Anti-Corruption Authority look into a number of suspicious financial dealings.
According to King Salman’s decree, the Anti-Corruption Authority disclosed financial corruption at the defense ministry linked to the military chief and prince. Several other officers and civil officials have also been placed under investigation.
The decree named several others to be investigated for corruption as being Yousef bin Rakan bin Hindi Al-Otaibi, Mohammed bin Abdulkarim bin Mohammed Al-Hassan, Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Ajlan, and Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al-Khalifah.
