Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had a “fruitful meeting” with US President Biden’s CIA director, William Burns, last month, in Jeddah.
The two discussed issues around Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, rising oil prices, oil production levels, and the ongoing war in Yemen during the meeting.
The meeting was organised to improve relations, the US have been contributing to an ever growing rift with the Saudi Royal Family since Biden took office, so much so that the Crown Prince is now eyeing a move to the Chinese Yuan as the currency accepted for oil. Biden’s stand-off approach has differed greatly from President Trump, who successfully negotiated further arms deals wit the Saudi Prince that contributed to a renewed security for the people of Saudi Arabia.
