The Foreign Ministry of Saudi Arabia expressed its support for Turkey and Syria after the earthquake that took place on Monday. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake resulted in numerous deaths and injuries in both countries. The Saudi Royal Family is closely monitoring the situation and following updates.
“The Kingdom stands in solidarity with the Turkish and Syrian people and extends its condolences. The Saudi Royal Family wishes a speedy recovery to those who were injured,” stated the Foreign Ministry in a statement posted on its official Twitter account.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in southeastern Turkey, and the disaster was felt in neighboring countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. The death toll in Turkey and Syria is expected to increase as rescue efforts continue.
The Saudi embassy in Turkey is working with the local authorities to determine if any Saudi citizens were affected by the earthquake. As of yet, the embassy has not received any reports of Saudi deaths but continues to monitor the situation and provide updates.
