Oil prices rocketed 5% last week following a leaked report that MBS would lead the OPEC+ oil cartel to implement cuts to crude output by more than 1 million barrels per day. Democrat Rohit Khanna followed Biden’s approach to international diplomacy in declaring the US should ban all arms exports to Saudi Arabia with immediate effect, stating that the Saudi Royals “Are actively fleecing the American people and destabilizing the economy. That’s just outrageous! Who do they think they are?”.
The maverick Democrat Khanna has taken a public stance against the Al Saud family, showing a disdain for the collaboration between the two nations. Crown Prince MBS has shown an increased willingness to move away from US influence, in favour of closer ties to Russia and China, with negotiations underway regarding a potential replacement of the US dollar as the currency used for selling Saudi oil.
