WWE and Saudi Arabia: The 10-Year Partnership

In early 2018, WWE signed a 10-year strategic multiplatform partnership with Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) in support of Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s social and economic reform programme. The deal, reportedly worth around $100 million per year, commits WWE to staging two or more large-scale premium live events (PLEs) annually in Saudi Arabia — making the Kingdom one of WWE’s most valuable international markets.

The partnership was expanded in November 2019 to run through at least 2027. It has since grown far beyond the original scope: the 2026 Royal Rumble in Riyadh was the first traditional Royal Rumble held outside North America, and WrestleMania 43 in 2027 will be the first WrestleMania staged outside North America — a landmark moment for both WWE and Saudi entertainment.

For fans, this means Saudi Arabia is no longer a one-off curiosity on the wrestling calendar. It is a permanent, premium-tier destination with world-class venues, massive production values, and events that regularly deliver marquee match cards rivalling WrestleMania itself.

Looking ahead: Night of Champions returns to Riyadh on 28 June 2025 at the Kingdom Arena. WrestleMania 43 is confirmed for Riyadh in 2027 — the first WrestleMania ever held outside North America.

Crown Jewel: The Flagship Saudi Event

Crown Jewel has been the centrepiece of WWE’s Saudi Arabia calendar since its debut in November 2018. Held annually in Riyadh (typically in late October or early November), it consistently features championship-level match cards and one-off dream matches that rarely appear elsewhere on the WWE schedule.

What Makes Crown Jewel Special

Crown Jewel cards are built around spectacle. The 2018 event brought back D-Generation X for a tag team match against The Undertaker and Kane. The 2022 show gave us Roman Reigns versus YouTube-turned-wrestler Logan Paul. The 2024 edition introduced the inaugural Crown Jewel Championships — a new concept where the men’s and women’s world champions from Raw and SmackDown face each other to determine the overall best in WWE.

The 2024 Crown Jewel was the most-watched WWE event ever staged in Saudi Arabia, with viewership up 28% from the 2023 edition. It sold out the Mohammed Abdo Arena.

Crown Jewel 2025 and Beyond

The 2025 Crown Jewel moved to Perth, Australia — the first time the event left Saudi Arabia. This does not mean the partnership is winding down. With the Royal Rumble now rotating through Riyadh and WrestleMania 43 confirmed for 2027, WWE’s Saudi commitment is expanding, not contracting. Future Crown Jewel events may return to the Kingdom.

Venues: Where WWE Happens in Saudi Arabia

WWE has used five different venues across Riyadh and Jeddah. Each offers a distinct experience for fans.

Mohammed Abdo Arena, Riyadh

Located inside Boulevard Riyadh City in the Hittin neighbourhood, the Mohammed Abdo Arena is a 22,000-seat multipurpose venue that has become WWE’s primary Saudi home since 2020. Named after legendary Saudi singer Mohammed Abdu, it sits within the “Theaters” zone of the Boulevard City entertainment complex — itself a centrepiece of Riyadh Season. Crown Jewel 2021, 2023, and 2024 were all held here.

The arena’s location inside Boulevard City is a major advantage for visiting fans. The surrounding complex offers dozens of restaurants, cafes, gaming zones, and entertainment venues — enough to fill an entire day before the show even starts.

Jeddah Super Dome

The Jeddah Super Dome is a 40,000-seat venue on Madinah Road, adjacent to King Abdullah Sports City. It holds the record as the world’s largest pillarless geodesic dome — surpassing New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome. WWE has used it for Elimination Chamber 2022, Night of Champions 2023, and King and Queen of the Ring 2024.

The Dome’s enormous interior allows for more creative stage designs and larger crowd capacities than the Mohammed Abdo Arena. For fans visiting Jeddah, the venue is about 30 minutes from the city centre and 45 minutes from King Abdulaziz International Airport.

King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah

Known locally as “The Jewel” (Al Jawhara), this 62,000-capacity stadium hosted the inaugural Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018 and Super ShowDown in 2019. It remains one of Saudi Arabia’s largest sporting venues, though WWE’s Jeddah events have more recently shifted to the Super Dome.

Riyadh Season Stadium

A purpose-built temporary outdoor stadium constructed in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) for the 2025–2026 Riyadh Season. This 30,000-seat venue hosted the 2026 Royal Rumble and represents Saudi Arabia’s growing ambition for bespoke event infrastructure. Located in the heart of Riyadh’s emerging financial hub, it offers easy access via the Riyadh Metro.

Other Venues

King Fahd International Stadium (Riyadh) hosted Crown Jewel 2019 and can seat over 68,000. Mrsool Park — home to Al Nassr FC (and Cristiano Ronaldo) — hosted Crown Jewel 2022. Kingdom Arena will host Night of Champions 2025.

How to Get Tickets

Tickets for WWE events in Saudi Arabia sell out fast, but the buying process is straightforward if you know where to look.

Official Ticketing Platform: Webook

Webook.com is the official ticketing partner for Riyadh Season events, including all WWE shows held in Riyadh. Tickets are sold through both the Webook website and mobile app. For Jeddah events, tickets may also be available through the GEA (General Entertainment Authority) website or the Enjoy Saudi platform (enjoy.sa).

Ticket Prices

WWE ticket pricing in Saudi Arabia is notably affordable compared to US events:

Category Approximate Price (SAR) Approximate Price (USD)
General Admission / Upper Bowl SAR 50–150 $13–40
Mid-Tier Seating SAR 200–500 $53–133
Floor / Ringside SAR 750–1,000 $200–265
VIP Box SAR 5,000–10,500 $1,330–2,800

Tip: Prices vary by event. Crown Jewel and WrestleMania-tier events will be at the higher end. Tickets go on sale 4–6 weeks before the event. Download the Webook app in advance to be ready when sales open — events like Crown Jewel 2024 sold out completely.

Buying Tips

    • Create your Webook account early. You will need a Saudi phone number or international mobile to register. Do this well before tickets go on sale.
    • Check WWE.com for official announcements on sale dates. WWE typically announces Saudi event tickets 4–6 weeks in advance.
    • Avoid unofficial resellers. Stick to Webook, enjoy.sa, or the GEA website. Scalped tickets may not scan at the venue.
    • Group bookings: VIP box packages (often seating 8–12) are worth considering for groups travelling together.

Notable Matches and Moments in Saudi Arabia

WWE’s Saudi events have delivered genuinely historic moments. Here are the standout highlights for any fan planning to attend a future show:

The 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble (2018)

The partnership’s opening event at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah featured the largest Royal Rumble match ever — 50 competitors in a single match. Braun Strowman won the inaugural Greatest Royal Rumble Trophy in front of a reported 60,000 fans. The event also featured a steel cage match for the Universal Championship between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.

    The Undertaker vs. Goldberg (2019)

Super ShowDown 2019 in Jeddah staged a dream match decades in the making. Two of wrestling’s biggest legends — The Undertaker and Goldberg — faced each other for the first time in a match that had been fantasy-booked by fans since the late 1990s.

Roman Reigns vs. Logan Paul (2022)

Crown Jewel 2022 at Mrsool Park saw the crossover event of the year: undisputed champion Roman Reigns defending against YouTube star turned WWE competitor Logan Paul. The match drew mainstream media attention well beyond the wrestling world and was widely praised as one of Paul’s best performances.

    Inaugural Crown Jewel Championships (2024)

Crown Jewel 2024 introduced a brand-new concept: the Crown Jewel Championships. Cody Rhodes (SmackDown’s Undisputed WWE Champion) defeated Gunther (Raw’s World Heavyweight Champion) for the men’s crown, while Liv Morgan won the women’s championship. The event became the most-watched WWE show ever produced in Saudi Arabia.

The First-Ever Royal Rumble Outside North America (2026)

On 31 January 2026, the 39th annual Royal Rumble took place at the purpose-built Riyadh Season Stadium. Roman Reigns won the men’s match, setting up his road to WrestleMania. The event marked a major milestone — the first time one of WWE’s “Big Four” premium live events was held outside North America.

    WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh (2027)

The biggest announcement in the WWE–Saudi partnership to date: WrestleMania 43 is confirmed for Riyadh in 2027. This will be the first WrestleMania held outside North America in the event’s 40+ year history. It is expected to be a two-night event as part of the 2026–2027 Riyadh Season, with a venue capable of hosting 50,000+ fans.

The announcement was made on 12 September 2025 at a press conference featuring WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh. Travel packages from companies like WrestleTours are already being offered.

Planning ahead? WrestleMania 43 will be the single largest WWE event ever held in the Middle East. Expect Riyadh hotel prices to spike significantly during the event window. Book accommodation as early as possible — a year in advance is not too soon.

What to Expect on Event Day

    Arrival and Entry

Gates typically open 2–3 hours before the main show starts. WWE events in Saudi Arabia usually begin between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM local time (AST, UTC+3) — timed for afternoon viewing in the US East Coast. Arrive early to soak in the atmosphere, browse merchandise stands, and grab your seat.

Bring your e-ticket (on the Webook app) and a valid photo ID. Security screening is standard. Bags are typically restricted to small clear bags or clutches.

    The Fan Experience

WWE’s Saudi production is identical to US premium live events — full pyrotechnics, massive LED entrance stages, and Titantron screens. The atmosphere inside Saudi venues is electric; the local fanbase is passionate and knowledgeable. Crowd signs in both Arabic and English are common.

Merchandise stands sell the same official WWE merchandise available at US events. Expect T-shirts (SAR 100–200), replica championship belts (SAR 600+), and event-specific items.

    Food and Drink

Venue concessions offer a mix of Western fast food and local options. No alcohol is served at any venue in Saudi Arabia — this is a nationwide law, not venue-specific. Instead, enjoy Arabic coffee, fresh juices, soft drinks, and the excellent local street food often available in the surrounding entertainment zones. Boulevard Riyadh City, which surrounds the Mohammed Abdo Arena, has dozens of restaurant options ranging from Saudi shawarma to Japanese ramen.

    Women at WWE Events

Women are fully welcome at all WWE events in Saudi Arabia. Since 2019, women’s matches have been part of the Saudi event cards — a significant milestone. Female fans attend in large numbers. There is no requirement to wear an abaya, though modest dress covering shoulders and knees is expected (this applies to men and women alike).

    Travel Tips for WWE Fans

    Getting to Saudi Arabia

Most WWE events are held in Riyadh. King Khalid International Airport (RUH) is served by direct flights from most major international hubs. For Jeddah events, fly to King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). Both airports have modern terminals with clear signage. For detailed airport arrival information, see our Riyadh airport guide or Jeddah airport guide.

    Visa

Citizens of over 60 countries can obtain a Saudi tourist e-visa online before travelling. The process takes minutes and costs SAR 535 (approximately $142), including insurance. Apply at least a week before your trip. During major events, event-specific visas are sometimes offered through the Riyadh Season or GEA platforms — check announcements closer to the event date.

    Where to Stay

For events at Mohammed Abdo Arena (Boulevard Riyadh City), stay in the Hittin or Olaya districts. The Hilton Riyadh Olaya, Movenpick Hotel and Residences Riyadh, and Mansard Riyadh (Radisson Collection) are all within a short drive of the venue. Budget options start around SAR 200/night ($53) in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

For Jeddah events, hotels along the Corniche or in the Al Hamra district put you 20–30 minutes from both King Abdullah Sports City and the Jeddah Super Dome.

Riyadh Season bonus: If your event falls during Riyadh Season (October–March), the city transforms into an entertainment hub with concerts, immersive experiences, and international shows running every night. Check the Riyadh Season calendar to plan activities around your WWE trip.

    Getting Around

On event nights, dedicated shuttle buses often run from major hotels and metro stations to the venue. Uber and Careem both operate in Riyadh and Jeddah and are the easiest way to reach venues. Expect surge pricing after the show — consider booking a return ride in advance or walking to a nearby pick-up point to avoid the worst queues.

The Riyadh Metro, which opened in late 2025, now serves several stations near Boulevard City and the KAFD, making public transport a viable option for some venues.

    Dress Code and Etiquette

Saudi Arabia has relaxed its dress code significantly in recent years, but modesty is still expected. For WWE events:

    • Men: Long trousers or knee-length shorts and a T-shirt are fine. Wrestling T-shirts are absolutely welcome — you will see plenty of them.
    • Women: Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees. An abaya is not required. Many female fans wear WWE merchandise T-shirts with loose trousers or long skirts.
    • Signs: Fan signs are encouraged. Keep them respectful and avoid political or religious content.

    Important Rules for Visitors

    • No alcohol: Saudi Arabia strictly prohibits alcohol. Do not bring any into the country or attempt to purchase any. For more on what you can and cannot bring, see our customs rules guide.
    • Prayer times: Some businesses close briefly during the five daily prayers. WWE events themselves are not interrupted, but plan around prayer times when dining or shopping beforehand.
    • Photography: Photos and videos inside the arena are generally fine and encouraged. Avoid photographing local people without permission outside the venue.
    • Currency: The Saudi Riyal (SAR) is the local currency (1 USD = approximately 3.75 SAR). Cards are accepted almost everywhere, but carry some cash for smaller vendors around event zones.

Combining WWE with a Saudi Arabia Trip

A WWE event is the perfect anchor for a broader Saudi Arabia trip. Most events are held on Saturday evenings, leaving you time to explore before and after.

    If You Are in Riyadh

    • Before the show: Explore the Edge of the World escarpment (90 minutes from the city), the National Museum, or the historic Diriyah UNESCO site.
    • During Riyadh Season: Boulevard City (right next to the arena) has world-class dining, gaming zones, immersive experiences, and often international concerts on the same weekend as WWE events.
    • Extend your trip: Fly to AlUla for ancient Nabataean tombs at Hegra, or take a day trip to the red sand dunes of the Empty Quarter.

    If You Are in Jeddah

    • Visit the historic Al Balad district (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with its coral-stone merchant houses.
    • Walk the Jeddah Corniche — 30 km of waterfront promenades, sculptures, and Red Sea views.
    • If timing aligns, catch the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit — the F1 calendar and WWE calendar occasionally overlap in the same travel window.

The Future of WWE in Saudi Arabia

The WWE–Saudi partnership is accelerating, not slowing down. With the 2026 Royal Rumble already delivered and WrestleMania 43 confirmed for 2027, the Kingdom is positioning itself as a permanent home for WWE’s biggest events. Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the GEA and the driving force behind Riyadh Season, has been personally involved in shaping match cards and event concepts — a level of investment that goes well beyond venue hosting.

For wrestling fans, this means more events, bigger cards, and increasingly ambitious venues. Saudi Arabia’s investment in entertainment infrastructure — from purpose-built stadiums to the sprawling Riyadh Season entertainment zones — ensures that attending a WWE event here is a genuinely world-class experience.
