Six Flags Qiddiya City — The Kingdom’s Flagship Theme Park
Opened on 31 December 2025 with a grand launch headlined by Alicia Keys, Six Flags Qiddiya City is the first Six Flags park in Asia and immediately claimed five simultaneous world records. Located within Qiddiya City, a 367-square-kilometre entertainment mega-project about 45 minutes southwest of central Riyadh, this is the park that put Saudi Arabia on the global theme-park map. TIME magazine named it one of the World’s Greatest Places for 2026.

World-Record Rides
Thrill-seeking older children and teenagers will be drawn to the headline attractions. Falcon’s Flight is the world’s tallest (195 metres), fastest (250 km/h) and longest (4.2 km) roller coaster. Sirocco Tower is the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower at 145 metres. Gyrospin, a 53-metre pendulum ride pulling 5 Gs, holds the record for tallest pendulum. Iron Rattler is the world’s tallest tilt coaster with a 63-metre drop, and Spitfire is the tallest inverted coaster at 73 metres.
Family and Kids’ Rides
Six Flags Qiddiya is not just for adrenaline junkies. Twelve dedicated family and children’s rides are spread across six themed lands. Twilight Gardens is built for younger visitors with oversized landscape elements scaled to a child’s sense of wonder. The Enchanted Greenhouse offers gentle, immersive experiences for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Other family rides include Arabian Carousel, Kaleidoscope Balloons, Canyon Charters, Skywatch, and the interactive dark ride Into the Deep. Water-based rides like Big Splash, Saw Mill Falls and Zoomaflooma offer a way to cool off without leaving the park.

Aquarabia Qiddiya City — The Middle East’s Largest Water Theme Park
Opening on 23 April 2026, Aquarabia sits adjacent to Six Flags within Qiddiya City and spans 250,000 square metres, making it the largest water theme park in the Middle East. With 22 rides across eight themed zones inspired by Saudi wildlife and landscapes, it is purpose-built for families.
Highlights for Kids
FusionFortress 18 is the showpiece for younger visitors: a multi-level play structure with 181 interactive water features, 11 slides and ground-level interactives designed for children with limited mobility. Surftopia is the Kingdom’s first surf pool — a football-pitch-sized wave pool with zones for beginners and intermediate riders. For something completely different, Aquaticar: Legend of the Glowing Guardian is billed as the world’s first underwater theme park ride, placing families in submersible vehicles through immersive environments. Seven of the 22 attractions are dry rides, so children who prefer to stay dry still have plenty to do.

Tip: If you are planning a family road trip through Saudi Arabia, Qiddiya City makes an ideal two-day stop — one day for Six Flags, one for Aquarabia.
Riyadh Season — Seasonal Entertainment on a Massive Scale
Running roughly from October through May each year, Riyadh Season turns the capital into the entertainment capital of the Gulf with dozens of themed zones, festivals and pop-up attractions. Two zones stand out for families with children.

Boulevard World
Boulevard World is the largest single zone in Riyadh Season 2025–26, featuring 24 cultural pavilions — from Indonesia and South Korea to Kuwait and Mexico — each with food stalls, live performances and themed rides. Kids can explore the Amazonia Awakens experience, visit the BLVD Dolphinarium, ride the Africa Slide, or simply wander between cultural zones sampling food from around the world. Entry is SAR 30 on weekdays and SAR 40 on weekends (approximately US$8–11). The zone opens at 4 PM daily and closes at midnight on weekdays, 1 AM on weekends. Some premium attractions inside have separate tickets.
Winter Wonderland
Part of Riyadh Season, Winter Wonderland offers 52 rides across six sub-zones, an ice skating rink, the Wonder Garden and live performances. Entry to the Riyadh version is free before 6 PM — a genuine bargain for families. Rides use individual tokens. A separate Jeddah Winter Wonderland runs at the ROSHN Waterfront (SAR 30–40 entry, 32 rides, ice skating rink, under-6 free). Both are seasonal and typically run from November through February or March.
Beast Land
For older children and teenagers, Beast Land covers 188,000 square metres with 15 major rides, 14 interactive experiences and a 50-metre bungee jump. This is adventure territory — best suited for ages 10 and up.
Jeddah’s Best Theme Parks for Kids
Families visiting Jeddah with kids will find a different flavour of entertainment — smaller, more established parks with a waterfront atmosphere and year-round operation.

Al Shallal Theme Park
Sitting right on the Jeddah Corniche waterfront in the Al Shati district, Al Shallal has been drawing families for years and attracts over a million visitors annually. The park combines outdoor rides — including the Amazon Wood Roller Coaster, Sling Shot, Flying Carousel and bumper cars — with an indoor ice skating rink, an “Arabian Village” and a “European Village” with restaurants and shops.
Entry with unlimited-rides wristband costs approximately SAR 75. A combo package including entry, Fakieh Aquarium, dolphin show and planetarium costs SAR 170 — solid value for a full day out. Children under 2 enter free. Opening hours are Saturday to Wednesday 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM, and Thursday to Friday 4:40 PM to 1:30 AM. Wednesdays are ladies-only.
Jungle Land Theme Park
Located in Mersal Village, Jungle Land covers 104,000 square metres and can hold 15,000 visitors, making it one of the largest parks in Saudi Arabia. The fully jungle-themed environment includes the Jungle Twister, Safari Swing, Wild River Adventure, free-fall ride, roller coasters, animal encounters and live shows. Entry is just SAR 35 (~US$9) with individual rides costing extra, or look for full-day access deals around SAR 90 on discount platforms. Children under 3 enter free.
Atallah Happy Land Park
Atallah Happy Land offers over 25 attractions including rides, a haunted house, ice skating rink, bowling alley, trampoline zone and arcade. The all-games wristband at SAR 85 (entry plus unlimited rides) is excellent value. Ladies-only Wednesday applies here too, at SAR 85 including all rides.
Dammam and the Eastern Province
Families based in Dammam or Al Khobar have their own dedicated option.
Cobra Entertainment City
The largest theme park in the Eastern Province, Cobra Entertainment City in Al Basatin, Dammam covers 130,000 square metres. It features roller coasters (both family-friendly and thrill), gentle rides for younger children, an ice skating rink and extensive green garden areas — unusual for Saudi parks and ideal for picnics. Ticket prices are SAR 100 for adults, SAR 50 for children, and SAR 25 for Saudi and GCC nationals.
Indoor Play Centres — Beat the Heat Year-Round
When summer temperatures exceed 45°C, indoor entertainment centres become essential. These are found inside malls across every Saudi city and are open year-round.
Sparky’s
With over 20 branches across Saudi Arabia — in Riyadh (Al Hamra Mall, Al Nakheel Mall, Panorama Mall), Jeddah (Alandalos Mall, Aziz Mall), Dammam (Dareen Mall) and beyond — Sparky’s is the most accessible family entertainment option in the Kingdom. It operates on a card-based system (SAR 129 for 200 points) with soft play areas, slides, arcade games, trampolines and electric rides. Cards work across all branches, so you can start in Riyadh and finish in Jeddah. Look for Happy Tuesday promotions for extra value.
Faby Land
Operated by Al Othaim Entertainment, Faby Land is a strong option in cities where major parks do not exist — including Dammam (West Avenue Mall), Abha (El Rashed Mall) and Tabuk (Tabuk Park Mall). Card-based pricing starts at SAR 129 for SAR 300 credit. Hours are Saturday to Sunday 8 AM to midnight, Fridays from 2 PM.
Al Hokair Land (Riyadh)
Al Hokair Land in Riyadh offers free entry with a pay-per-ride model (rides SAR 10–30 each, or wristbands around SAR 90). Behind its fairytale castle entrance, families will find roller coasters, carousels, bumper cars, an ice skating rink, trampoline park, multi-dimension cinema and an arcade. It mixes indoor and outdoor areas and opens daily from 3:30 PM to midnight.
Snow and Ice Attractions
For a surreal contrast to the desert heat, Saudi Arabia is building a portfolio of snow experiences.
Snow City Riyadh is already open, offering indoor ice skating and a snow sculpture park from approximately SAR 125. Looking ahead, the Mall of Saudi in Riyadh will house one of the world’s largest indoor ski slopes when it opens. Further out, NEOM’s Trojena resort in the Tabuk region aims to offer year-round outdoor skiing at 2,400 metres elevation — a concept that would have been unthinkable in Saudi Arabia a decade ago.
What’s Coming Next — The Qiddiya Pipeline
Qiddiya City is far from finished. Beyond Six Flags and Aquarabia, confirmed projects include the world’s first Dragon Ball theme park, a new Universal Studios park, a Formula One circuit, a gaming and esports district, and a performing arts centre. For families planning future visits, Qiddiya alone could eventually justify a week-long stay.

Practical Tips for Visiting Theme Parks with Kids
Best Time to Visit
The ideal window is October through March, when daytime temperatures sit between 20°C and 30°C. This coincides with Riyadh Season, so you get both permanent parks and seasonal attractions. Avoid June through August for outdoor parks — temperatures regularly exceed 45°C and some outdoor attractions reduce hours or close. Weekdays are significantly less crowded than the Thursday–Friday weekend.
What to Pack
- Sun protection: SPF 50+ sunscreen, UV-protective rash vests for water parks, wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses for every family member
- Clothing: Lightweight, loose-fitting clothes covering shoulders and knees. Women are not legally required to wear an abaya, but modest dress covering shoulders and knees is expected
- Hydration: Refillable water bottles — dehydration is a real risk, especially for children
- Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes; water shoes for Aquarabia

Cultural Considerations
Parks may briefly pause operations during prayer times (five times daily, roughly 15–30 minutes each). Plan around these pauses rather than fighting them — use the break for snacks or toilet stops. Some parks designate specific days as ladies-only (Al Shallal on Wednesdays, Aquarabia on Fridays). Alcohol is not available anywhere in Saudi Arabia. Photography of other people, especially women, without permission is culturally inappropriate and potentially illegal.
Getting Around
Qiddiya City is not on the Riyadh Metro — use ride-hailing apps (Uber and Careem both operate in Saudi Arabia) or rent a car. Within Riyadh and Jeddah, taxis and ride-hailing are abundant. For visitors arriving from abroad, a tourist e-visa can be obtained online before departure. If you are flying into Riyadh, see our guide to getting from Riyadh Airport to the city centre.
