Travel in Saudi Arabia right now

As of 23 October 2026, Australia, New Zealand and Germany advise against all travel to Saudi Arabia, and the UK, Canada, Ireland and France advise against non-essential travel. Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport reopened on 18 October only to flights with prior permission from the civil aviation authority, and many foreign airlines have suspended Saudi flights. For airport status, airline schedules and official advice, each with its date and source, see Saudi Arabia Travel Status.

Saudi Arabia has transformed into one of the Middle East’s most exciting live music destinations. Whether you’re planning a trip around a specific show or simply want to catch something while visiting, this guide covers everything you need to know about concerts in Saudi Arabia in 2026 — from the biggest venues and festivals to how to buy tickets. It’s an essential addition to any Saudi Arabia travel itinerary, especially if nightlife and entertainment are part of your trip.

How Saudi Arabia Became a Concert Powerhouse

For decades public concerts were rare in Saudi Arabia. The General Entertainment Authority (GEA), established in 2016 as part of Vision 2030, changed that. The GEA regulates and licenses entertainment events across the Kingdom, and since its creation Saudi Arabia has hosted performances by artists including Post Malone, Calvin Harris, Cardi B, David Guetta, Martin Garrix and Andrea Bocelli.

The first MDL Beast festival in Riyadh, held on 19–21 December 2019, was widely reported to have drawn about 400,000 people, and its Big Beast main stage received a Guinness World Records certificate as the tallest temporary stage. Since then Riyadh and Jeddah have added large purpose-built venues such as Kingdom Arena and the Jeddah Superdome.

Major Concert Venues

Kingdom Arena, Riyadh

Located in the Boulevard Riyadh City area that anchors Riyadh Season, Kingdom Arena is one of Saudi Arabia’s main indoor event venues. Published capacity figures vary with the layout: the Asian Football Confederation lists about 26,000 for football, and other sources give around 30,000. In 2024 Guinness World Records recognised it as the largest covered football stadium by area. It hosted WWE Night of Champions on 27 June 2026.

Boulevard Riyadh City also includes the Mohammed Abdo Theater, the Abu Bakr Salem Theater and several smaller venues, giving promoters flexibility across genres and audience sizes. For Riyadh Season 2026, What’s On Saudi Arabia lists a dedicated concert arena called The Venue in Hittin for the length of the season. If you’re visiting Riyadh, a full Riyadh travel guide will help you plan around these venues.

Jeddah Superdome

The Jeddah Superdome is a large multi-purpose indoor venue that hosts concerts, exhibitions, boxing and cultural events, and it is used for Jeddah Season programming. Jeddah’s concert calendar is busiest in the summer, when Jeddah Season runs, complementing Riyadh’s winter season. For more on Jeddah’s entertainment and cultural scene, see the Jeddah travel guide.

King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah

King Abdullah Sports City’s main stadium is one of the largest outdoor venues in the western region and is used for big concerts as well as football. Note that the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which in past years paired Formula 1 racing in Jeddah with headline concerts, did not take place in 2026: Formula 1 and the FIA cancelled the 17–19 April race, together with the Bahrain round, on 14 March 2026, citing the regional security situation. What’s On Saudi Arabia reported that ticket refunds would be returned automatically to the original payment method.

Maraya Concert Hall, AlUla

Maraya holds a Guinness World Record as the world’s largest mirrored building. Set in the ancient Ashar Valley in AlUla, the 9,740-square-metre structure reflects the surrounding sandstone formations, creating an effect unlike any other concert venue on earth. The intimate hall seats up to 500, and past performers include Andrea Bocelli and Omar Khairat; during Winter at Tantora 2025–26 the hall hosted Wael Kfoury (19 December 2025) and Elissa (9 January 2026). Tickets for Maraya events are premium: this is a small-hall experience, not a stadium show.

Major Festivals and Concert Seasons

MDLBeast Soundstorm

Soundstorm is MDLBEAST’s flagship festival and one of the largest music festivals in the Middle East. It is usually held in December at Banban outside Riyadh. The 2025 edition ran on 11–13 December, with a lineup that included Post Malone, Calvin Harris, Cardi B, Benson Boone, Tyla, Halsey, Black Coffee and Nina Kraviz.

Soundstorm 2026 has been cancelled. The seventh edition had been scheduled for 3–4 December 2026 at Banban Grounds in Riyadh, with tickets already on sale. On 1 October 2026 the organisers said on Instagram: “With regret, this year’s Soundstorm will not take place as planned,” and that they would focus on a 2027 edition (Arab News, 1 October 2026). No reason was given, and no 2027 dates have been announced. Ticket holders were told by email; check that email or your ticketing account for refund details. For reference, 2025 general STORM tickets were reported from about SAR 119 for a single day in early release waves, rising in later waves, and VIB access started at about SAR 799.

Riyadh Season

Riyadh Season is Saudi Arabia’s flagship winter entertainment season. The General Entertainment Authority’s chairman, Turki Alalshikh, announced that the seventh edition, Riyadh Season 2026 (slogan “Big Time”), would open on Wednesday 21 October 2026 with a ten-week programme that includes concerts by “leading Saudi, Arab and international artists,” theatre, comedy, boxing, wrestling and UFC (Saudi Press Agency; Gulf News, 27 September 2026). Zones open in stages: What’s On Saudi Arabia lists the Boulevard City stage from 22 October, Boulevard World from 25 October and further zones through November and December. No full concert lineup had been published when we checked on 23 October 2026. The Six Kings Slam tennis exhibition, first set for 21–24 October, was moved to 27–30 December 2026; organisers cited “organizational and logistical challenges” (Arab News, 14 October 2026). WWE Crown Jewel was still listed for 7 November 2026 in Riyadh in mid-October reports, with F4W reporting that a backup US city had been discussed. The month-by-month Riyadh Season calendar tracks confirmed events. Our news desk covered the season’s position in Riyadh Postponed the Conference and Kept the Season.

Jeddah Season

Jeddah Season fills the summer gap when Riyadh Season is not running. Platinumlist reported that the 2026 edition returned after a one-year break, with concerts by Ahlam (30 July) and Elissa with Wael Jassar (31 July), the “This Is Michael” tribute show (21 August) and events across the Jeddah Promenade, Al-Balad and the Obhur West Coast zone, which was listed as running until 4 November 2026. Most of the 2026 summer concert programme has now taken place.

Balad Beast

Produced by MDLBEAST, Balad Beast is a two-night urban music festival held in Jeddah’s UNESCO-listed Al Balad historic district. The fourth edition took place on 29–30 January 2026 across four stages, with a lineup that included Playboi Carti, Don Toliver, Shaggy, Destroy Lonely, Solomun and Pawsa. Dates for a 2027 edition had not been announced when we checked.

Azimuth Festival, AlUla

Azimuth is a boutique electronic and alternative music festival held in the desert canyons of AlUla. The 2025 edition ran on 25–26 September 2025, with tickets reported from SAR 1,200. Experience AlUla says the festival “typically happens in late September over Saudi National Day weekend” and that it “will be back in 2026,” but its page listed no 2026 dates when we checked on 23 October 2026, and we could not confirm whether a 2026 edition took place.

Winter at Tantora, AlUla

Running from December into early January, Winter at Tantora pairs concerts with AlUla’s heritage sites. The 2025–26 edition ran from 18 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, with performances at Shorfat Tantora in AlUla Old Town and a Thanaya concert series that included Ahlam (26 December) and Assala Nasri with Adam (31 December), according to Experience AlUla. The official calendar did not list 2026–27 dates when we checked on 23 October 2026. The festival is a quieter experience than the large urban festivals.

How to Buy Concert Tickets

Saudi Arabia has a well-developed ticketing ecosystem. The key platforms are:

  • Webook.com — The main ticketing platform for Riyadh Season events and many major Saudi concerts and sports events. Download the mobile app for faster checkout when tickets drop.
  • Platinumlist.net — Another major platform covering concerts, shows, and events across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
  • MDLBeast.com — Direct ticket sales for MDLBEAST-produced events such as Soundstorm and Balad Beast.
  • Riyadh Season app — Official app for Riyadh Season events and zone passes.

Warning: Always buy from official or licensed platforms. Unofficial resellers are common on social media, and tickets bought from unlicensed sellers may be refused at the door. If an event is cancelled, refunds are normally handled only through the original platform.

Practical Tips for Concert-Goers

Dress Code

Saudi Arabia’s dress code is more relaxed at entertainment events than in everyday public spaces, but modesty standards still apply. Shoulders and knees should be covered. Avoid clothing with provocative slogans or imagery. At festivals like Soundstorm, you’ll see fashion-forward outfits — think Coachella energy but without the crop tops. Some venues publish specific guidelines; check before you go.

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol is not served at concerts and entertainment events in Saudi Arabia, and drinking in public is illegal. Do not try to bring any into a venue. Expect soft drinks, coffee and food stalls instead.

Getting to Venues

Ride-hailing apps (Uber, Careem, and Bolt) are the most practical way to reach concert venues in both Riyadh and Jeddah. For Riyadh events, the Riyadh Metro offers an alternative for some venues; check the nearest station and last-train time before you go. Large venues such as Boulevard Riyadh City have big car parks, but expect congestion on event nights. For large festivals, organisers have often run shuttle buses from set pickup points; check the event page.

Age Restrictions

Age restrictions vary by event. Some music festivals set a minimum age, while many Riyadh Season and Jeddah Season events are family-friendly. Always check the specific event listing on the ticketing platform before booking, and carry ID.

Weather Considerations

Timing matters. Riyadh Season falls in the cooler months, and December nights in the desert can be cold, so bring a jacket for outdoor shows. Summer events in Jeddah are hot and humid. Outdoor venues in AlUla during September–January offer some of the most comfortable conditions, with warm days and cool evenings in the desert.

Visa and Entry Requirements

Most international visitors need a tourist e-visa, which is applied for online. Published guides disagree on the current fee (which includes mandatory medical insurance) and on the number of eligible nationalities, so check both on the official Visit Saudi visa portal before you apply. The tourist e-visa has been issued as a one-year, multiple-entry visa allowing stays of up to 90 days; confirm the terms shown when you apply.

If you’re coming from the United States, the Saudi Arabia guide for American visitors covers additional entry details. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome at all concert venues and entertainment events without restriction.

Where to Stay for Concerts

For Riyadh Season events and Soundstorm, stay near Boulevard Riyadh City or along the Northern Ring Road for easy access. Hotels in the Olaya and King Abdullah Financial District areas are a short drive from many venues, traffic permitting. For festivals at Banban, outside the city, allow extra travel time.

For Jeddah concerts, the Corniche area and hotels near Al Balad put you close to both the Superdome and King Abdullah Sports City. For AlUla events, hotels in AlUla fill up fast around festival dates such as Winter at Tantora, so book well in advance.

The Saudi Arabia hotels guide covers accommodation options across all major cities.

Beyond the Concerts: Planning Your Trip

A concert can be the anchor of a Saudi Arabia trip, but there’s much more to see. If you’re attending Riyadh Season events, spend extra days exploring the capital — from the UNESCO-listed Diriyah district to the Edge of the World escarpment. Jeddah visitors can combine a concert with the historic Al Balad quarter, Red Sea diving, or a day trip to Taif. AlUla concert-goers should absolutely factor in visits to Elephant Rock and the Nabataean tombs at Hegra.

For hikers, the Kingdom’s mountains and canyons offer a completely different side of the country — the hiking guide covers the best trails. And if you’re wondering about safety, the safety guide addresses the most common concerns for international visitors.
