Winter Wonderland Riyadh is the Middle East’s largest mobile amusement park and one of the anchor attractions of Riyadh Season, Saudi Arabia’s flagship annual entertainment festival. Spanning 93 acres in the King Abdullah Financial District, it transforms a corner of the capital into a sprawling carnival of roller coasters, themed zones, ice rinks and live shows every winter. Whether you are building a wider Riyadh travel itinerary or flying in specifically for the rides, this guide covers everything you need to know: ticket prices, all six zones, practical logistics, and tips to make the most of your visit.

What Is Winter Wonderland Riyadh?
Launched in October 2019 as part of the inaugural Riyadh Season, Winter Wonderland draws its inspiration from London’s famous Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, which has operated since 2005. The Riyadh version, however, operates on a far larger scale. The original 2019 park covered 50 acres and proved so popular that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended its run from mid-December through the end of January 2020. When it returned in October 2021 after a pandemic hiatus, the site had expanded by roughly 40 per cent to its current 93 acres.
The park is organised by Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and has been a core zone of every Riyadh Season since the festival began. In 2025, the concept expanded to Jeddah for the first time, though the Riyadh edition remains the flagship. It is not a franchise of the London event — it is a Saudi-produced entertainment zone that adapts the winter-carnival concept for a Gulf audience, complete with man-made snow, an open-air ice rink and over 80 rides.
When Does It Run?
Winter Wonderland opens alongside Riyadh Season, which typically launches in October and runs through March. The 2025–2026 season opened on 10 October 2025. Exact closing dates vary year to year, so check the official Riyadh Season website or the GEA portal for the latest schedule.
The park operates daily:
- Sunday–Wednesday: 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM
- Thursday–Saturday: 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM
- WWL Cafe — The park’s signature cafe, famous for hot chocolate, s’mores drinks and winter-themed desserts. A perennial favourite every season.
- Nathan’s Famous — American-style hot dogs made with 100 per cent Angus beef.
- Vapiano — Fire-roasted pizzas, pasta and salads for a sit-down break from the rides.
- Street food stalls — Shawarma, corn on the cob, churros, candy floss, fresh juices and local Saudi snacks.

Peak crowds arrive after 8 PM on weekends (Thursday and Friday evenings in Saudi Arabia). If you prefer shorter queues, visit on a weekday or arrive right at opening.
Tickets and Prices
One of Winter Wonderland’s biggest draws is its generous free-entry window:
| Time | Weekday (Sun–Wed) | Weekend (Thu–Sat) |
|---|---|---|
| Before 6:00 PM | Free | Free |
| After 6:00 PM | SAR 35 (~USD 9) | SAR 55 (~USD 15) |
Children under 12 enter free at all times. Tickets can be purchased online at the official Riyadh Season ticketing portal (ticketmx.riyadhseason.sa) or at the gate. Advance booking is strongly recommended for weekend evenings and public holidays.
Tip: Entry gets you into the venue, but individual rides require separate tokens or credits purchased inside the park. Budget SAR 100–200 for a full evening of rides.
The Six Zones
Winter Wonderland is divided into six distinct themed areas, each with its own atmosphere and attractions. Knowing the layout before you arrive saves time and helps you prioritise.
1. Dreamland Carnival
The classic carnival heart of the park. Dreamland is where you will find the majority of the traditional amusement rides: bumper cars, carousels, spinning teacups and midway games. It is the most family-friendly zone and the best starting point if you are visiting with younger children. Fairground food stalls line the walkways, and the colourful neon signage makes it one of the most photogenic areas after dark.
2. Snow Forest
Built with 500 tonnes of man-made snow, Snow Forest recreates an early-winter woodland complete with frosted trees, snowmen and art installations. It is a surreal experience given that Riyadh sits in the middle of the Arabian desert. The zone includes gentle rides suited to families, photo-op stations and seasonal decorations that change from year to year. Temperatures inside the zone are cooled to enhance the effect.
3. Magic Box
The entertainment and performance hub. Magic Box hosts live shows, illusionist acts, theatrical performances and special exhibitions. Past editions have featured a Marvel Experience with VR interactions and character meet-and-greets (Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Panther), a Science Factory for children, and a Penguin Show with ice-skating performances. The lineup rotates each season, so check the Riyadh Season app for the current schedule.
4. Horror Adventures
Not for the faint-hearted. Horror Adventures (sometimes branded “Dead Wood” in promotional material) is a scare zone featuring haunted houses, a cemetery area, horror-film characters roaming freely and seven interconnected scary games. Height and age restrictions apply to some attractions. If you are visiting with small children, you may want to skip this zone entirely — the scares are genuinely intense.
5. Wonder Road
A walkthrough zone that blends retail, entertainment and dining. Wonder Road is where you will find many of the park’s 35+ restaurants and cafes, pop-up souvenir shops and handmade-craft vendors. It functions as the main artery connecting the other zones, so you will pass through it multiple times over the course of an evening.
6. Winter Festival
The festive-themed centrepiece, Winter Festival features seasonal activities, the park’s open-air ice-skating rink (described as the largest in the Middle East) and the 55-metre Ferris wheel that has become Winter Wonderland’s most recognisable landmark. The Ferris wheel offers panoramic views of the Riyadh skyline and is especially striking after sunset when the KAFD towers light up in the background.

Best Rides and Attractions
With over 80 rides across the park, choosing where to spend your tokens requires some planning. Here are the standout attractions:
Sky Loop
Billed as the world’s longest mobile roller coaster, the Sky Loop is the park’s headline thrill ride. It features steep drops, high-speed turns and enough G-force to satisfy serious coaster enthusiasts. Queues are longest for this ride, so head here first if it is on your list.
55-Metre Ferris Wheel
Located in the Winter Festival zone, the Ferris wheel is a must-ride regardless of your thrill tolerance. One full rotation takes approximately 15 minutes, and the views at the top stretch across the entire KAFD district and beyond. Go after 8 PM for the best lighting.
The Stomach Churner (CyberSpace)
A giant pendulum swing that arcs high above the park. It is one of the more intense rides and draws large crowds, particularly among teenagers and young adults.
The Spinner (Frisbee)
A massive frisbee-style ride with rotating seats that spins and swings simultaneously. Another crowd favourite for adrenaline seekers.
Ice-Skating Rink
Open-air and atmospheric, the rink is a popular draw for families and couples. Skate hire is included in the rink admission fee (separate from the park entry ticket). Sessions are timed, so check the schedule board at the rink entrance.
Marvel Experience
A family-friendly zone with VR attractions, character appearances and interactive exhibits themed around Marvel superheroes. Popular with children aged 5–14, though the VR elements appeal to adults too.
Food and Dining
Winter Wonderland hosts over 35 restaurants and cafes spread across the park, concentrated along Wonder Road. Options range from quick carnival snacks to sit-down meals:
Budget tip: Food inside the park is priced at a premium. If you are watching your spending, eat before you arrive and limit yourself to snacks and drinks inside. Restaurants along Boulevard World, another Riyadh Season zone nearby, offer more competitive pricing.
Getting There
Winter Wonderland is located in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in the Al-Aqeeq neighbourhood of northern Riyadh. KAFD sits between King Fahd Road, the Northern Ring Road and Al-Thumama Road — three of the city’s main arterial highways.
By Taxi or Ride-Hailing
This is the recommended approach. Uber and Careem both operate in Riyadh and will drop you at the main entrance. Expect surge pricing on weekend evenings. Set your pickup point in the app before you leave to avoid confusion in the crowd.
By Car
On-site parking is available at SAR 10 per hour. Parking fills up fast on weekends, and the exit queues after midnight can take 30–45 minutes. If you must drive, arrive before 5 PM to secure a spot.
By Metro
Riyadh’s metro system continues to expand. The KAFD station on the Orange Line (Line 3) is the nearest stop. Check the Riyadh Metro website for the latest operating hours and routes, as the network is still in its rollout phase.
Visa Requirements
International visitors need a valid Saudi visa. The Saudi tourist e-visa is available to citizens of over 60 countries and can be obtained online in minutes. The e-visa is valid for one year with multiple entries and allows stays of up to 90 days. If your nationality is not on the e-visa list, check the 96-hour stopover visa as an alternative for short visits.

Tips for First-Time Visitors
Arrive Before 6 PM
Entry is free before 6 PM every day. Even if the full light-show atmosphere does not kick in until after dark, arriving early lets you orientate yourself, secure a good parking spot and hit the headline rides before the evening rush.
Dress in Layers
Riyadh winters are mild by day (20–25°C) but temperatures drop to 8–12°C after sunset. Locals have a word for the Winter Wonderland look: khalageen — wearing as many mismatched warm layers as possible. Bring a jacket, especially if you plan to visit the Snow Forest zone or the ice rink.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
The park covers 93 acres. You will walk several kilometres over the course of an evening. Closed-toe shoes with good grip are essential, particularly near the ice rink where floors can be slippery.
Visit on a Weekday
Weekend crowds (Thursday and Friday) are significantly larger. If your schedule allows, a Sunday–Wednesday visit offers shorter ride queues, easier parking and a more relaxed atmosphere.
Book Tickets Online
Purchase through ticketmx.riyadhseason.sa to skip the gate queue. During peak periods (school holidays, national day celebrations), advance booking is essential.
Bringing Children
Children under 12 enter free. The Science Factory, Marvel Experience and Dreamland Carnival zone are specifically designed for younger visitors. Many rides are graded by age and height, with clear signage at each entrance. Pushchairs are allowed inside the park.
Visiting with a Wider Riyadh Itinerary
Winter Wonderland works best as an evening activity within a broader exploration of the Saudi capital. During the day, consider visiting the National Museum of Saudi Arabia, which provides an excellent introduction to the Kingdom’s history and culture. The nearby Diriyah, the original seat of the Saudi state and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a 20-minute drive from KAFD.
For a self-guided walking tour of Riyadh’s old quarter and modern skyline, spend a morning exploring the Masmak Fortress, Deera Square and the King Fahd Library area before heading to Winter Wonderland in the afternoon. If you are staying longer, the Riyadh to Abha road trip is one of Saudi Arabia’s most scenic drives.
Fitness-minded travellers can check our guide to Riyadh’s best gyms for day passes and classes to balance out the theme-park indulgences. And if you are looking for relaxation after a day of rides, the capital has a growing luxury spa scene.
Winter Wonderland vs Boulevard World
Visitors often ask whether to spend their evening at Winter Wonderland or Boulevard World, Riyadh Season’s other marquee zone. The short answer: they offer different experiences.
| Feature | Winter Wonderland | Boulevard World |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Amusement rides, carnival, ice rink | Themed international districts, dining, shows |
| Best for | Families with children, thrill-seekers | Couples, foodies, culture enthusiasts |
| Size | 93 acres | Multiple themed districts across a similar footprint |
| Free entry | Before 6 PM daily | Varies by season |
| Signature attraction | Sky Loop roller coaster, Ferris wheel | Themed world pavilions, lake shows |
If you have two evenings in Riyadh, do both. If you only have one, Winter Wonderland is the better choice for families with children, while Boulevard World suits adults looking for dining and spectacle.
Concerts and Events During Riyadh Season
Winter Wonderland operates alongside a packed calendar of concerts and live events across Saudi Arabia. Riyadh Season regularly hosts international artists, sporting events and cultural festivals. Check the official Riyadh Season app for the latest event schedule during your visit — shows at Boulevard Riyadh City and Mohammed Abdu Arena are often held on the same evenings, making it possible to combine a concert with a Winter Wonderland visit.
