The Yemeni Houthis have made further military incursions into Saudi territory into the Jazan region, in the South of the country, in a further escalation of offensive action. This was reported by the Houthis’ Al-Masirah channel, quoting a military source that claimed the Yemeni forces have launched strikes east of the Jahfan Mountain on the Jazan Front. A number of Saudis were killed during the strikes.

These attacks mark the latest in a series of escalating efforts by the Yemeni rebels, who have increased their missile and drone strike capacity in recent months, aiming several air attacks on both the Jazan and Abha Saudi Airports. This escalation comes at a difficult time the Saudi Royal Family, following the retreat of the UAE from the Saudi-Yemen war. Mohammed bin Salman has committed more troops to the war effort, as well as receiving significant reinforcements in the form of US troops sent to the Kingdom by President Trump.

The Saudi-Yemen war has now endured for four years and has resulted in a growing humanitarian crisis in Yemen, the UN this week called for further talks in order to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
