Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has won the rights for Saudi Arabia to host the Asian Winter Games in 2029.
The Games will be held in Trojena, Neom city, a mountain resort that is currently under construction and will be completed in approximately 4 years time.
The location is both picturesque and climatically appropriate, located adjacent to the stunning Sarawat mountains, the resort will be suitable year-round for winter sports enthusiasts.
Trojena will boast Saudi Arabia’s first outdoor ski resort, as well as a man-made freshwater lake.
The Saudi Prince was thrilled at winning the hosting rights, in what has been the Kingdom’s latest coup in international sports. MBS has been intent on increasing the Al Saud Family’s presence in sport, in August, Anthony Joshua boxed Oleksandr Usyk in Jeddah, and in October 2021, a Saudi Arabian-backed £305m takeover of Newcastle United was completed.
