Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir reiterated his criticisms of Iran on Monday, calling for Tehran to change its aggressive meddling in the affairs of its Gulf neighbours.

He voiced these concerns during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin.

The Saudi Foreign Minister strongly condemned Iran for interfering in the internal affairs of Yemen, Iraq and Bahrain.

Al-Jubeir is scheduled to travel to Moscow next to discuss potential solutions to the Syrian conflict with the Russian premier. Al-Jubeir said that it was important to resolve the conflict before it led to the complete collapse of Syrian infrastructure and institutions.

The German minister voiced his understanding of the GCC countries’ concerns regarding the US-led nuclear deal with Iran, indicating that sanctions will be strictly re-imposed if Tehran fails to adhere to the strictb terms of agreement.

During the Berlin press conference Al-Jubeir also touched on the Raif Badawi case, asserting that Saudi Arabia will not tolerate interference in its domestic affairs – adding the human rights are guaranteed under the country’s strict Sharia law which includes public beheadings and crucifixions.

The German foreign minister added that he will be making a visit to Riyadh in the near future, and that he looks forward to improved relations between the two great nations.
