The Saudi military stopped a Volcano H-2 ballistic missile that was within seconds of impacting the Saudi Royal Family’s palace in Riyadh today, December 19, saving the lives both Saudi royals and staff.
The missile was fired by the Iran backed Houthi Rebels in Yemen, and was intercepted moments before it would have reached the palace – which is frequently used by HRH King Salman and his cabinet for weekly meetings.
A Houthi spokesperson confirmed the launch of a ballistic missile on Twitter and said that the royal palace was the intended target.
A report carried by the Houthis’ Al Masirah TV said that the missile was intended to strike the palace at a time when Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was hosting a government meeting.
