What Is Boulevard World?

Boulevard World is a theme park and cultural entertainment zone operated by Sela, the General Entertainment Authority’s delivery arm. It sits on Prince Turki al-Awwal Road, adjacent to Boulevard Riyadh City, and operates primarily during the annual Riyadh Season festival, which typically runs from October through to April or May.

The concept is a “world tour on foot”: visitors walk through replica streetscapes of Paris, Cairo, Tokyo, New Delhi, Marrakech, Rome, Beijing, Mexico City and more. Each zone features architecture modelled on real landmarks — an Arc de Triomphe you can walk under, a Sphinx you can photograph beside, Japanese torii gates, Indian palaces and Chinese pagodas. Beyond the scenery, each zone stocks restaurants, shops and live performers from the country it represents.

The park also contains around 40 rides, three roller coasters, a dolphinarium, a snow experience, a haunted hotel and the Aroya Lagoon — a 12.19-hectare man-made lake certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest. Water taxis cross the lagoon, and after dark the entire complex lights up with projection shows, fireworks on select nights, and LED displays across the landmark facades.

The Zones: A Country-by-Country Guide

Boulevard World originally showcased 10 countries across 11 sub-zones. For Riyadh Season 2025–26, the park expanded to more than 24 cultural zones, adding Indonesia, South Korea, Kuwait, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia and several African nations. Below are the highlights.

France Zone

The France Zone is the park’s most photographed section. A full-scale Arc de Triomphe replica anchors a Parisian streetscape lined with cafés serving croissants, crêpes and French patisserie. A classical fountain sits at the zone’s centre, and evening light shows project the French tricolour across the facades. This zone alone justifies the entry ticket for many visitors.

Egypt Zone

Scaled replicas of the Giza Pyramids, the Great Sphinx and a Luxor Obelisk dominate this zone. The detailing is surprisingly faithful — hieroglyphic carvings cover the obelisk’s surface and the sphinx sits in its correct proportional relationship to the pyramids. Egyptian street food vendors sell koshari, falafel and sugarcane juice, and live performers play traditional music after 8 PM.

Japan Zone

Torii gates frame the entrance to the Japan Zone, which recreates a lantern-lit Kyoto street with ramen shops, matcha dessert counters and a sushi bar. The zone features traditional calligraphy workshops and origami stations where staff guide visitors through paper-folding techniques. Cherry-blossom decorations peak during late Riyadh Season (March–April), adding a seasonal layer to the already immersive scenery.

India Zone

Mughal-inspired arches, a Rajasthani palace facade and vibrant textile markets fill the India Zone. Restaurants here serve biryani, tandoori chicken, chaat and masala chai. Henna artists offer quick hand designs — a popular activity for families. Bollywood music plays from speakers concealed in the architecture, and dance performances run on a small stage at regular intervals.

China Zone

Red lanterns and pagoda rooftops mark the China Zone, which hosts dim sum restaurants, a tea house and shops selling silk goods and ceramics. A dragon-themed light tunnel draws queues after dark, and Chinese acrobatic performances take place on weekend evenings.

Morocco Zone

Narrow medina-style alleys open into a central riad courtyard. Moroccan vendors sell leather goods, argan oil products and handmade ceramics. The food here — tagines, couscous and mint tea — ranks among the most authentic in the park. The architecture closely replicates Marrakech’s Bab Agnaou gate.

Saudi Arabia Zone

Added for the 2024–25 season, this zone celebrates the Kingdom’s own heritage. A replica of the Al Naslaa rock formation (the famous split boulder from Tabuk Province) stands at the centre, surrounded by traditional Najdi mud-brick architecture, date palms and artisan workshops demonstrating sadu weaving and Arabic coffee preparation. This is a good place to buy Saudi souvenirs including oud and traditional handicrafts.

New for 2025–26: Indonesia, South Korea and Kuwait

The three newest zones debuted when Riyadh Season 2025 launched in October. Indonesia features a Balinese temple entrance and nasi goreng stalls. South Korea centres on K-pop culture, with a stage for live tribute performances and Korean barbecue restaurants. Kuwait’s zone recreates a Gulf souk atmosphere with seafood restaurants and pearl-diving heritage displays.

Other Zones

Additional zones represent the United States (diner culture, a Route 66 set piece), Italy (Roman columns, gelato, pizza), Spain (Moorish arches, tapas), Mexico (Day of the Dead murals, taco stands), Greece (whitewashed Cycladic facades, gyros), Brazil, Peru and Turkey. Each zone maintains its own food, music and retail identity.

Rides and Attractions

Boulevard World is not just a walk-through cultural exhibition — it has a full roster of amusement park rides and standalone attractions.

Aroya Lagoon

The centrepiece: a 12.19-hectare man-made lake surrounded by the country zones. Water taxis operate a loop service, providing a leisurely way to see the park from the water. After 9 PM, projection-mapped water shows light up the lagoon’s surface. The lagoon holds the Guinness World Record for the largest artificial lake.

Roller Coasters and Thrill Rides

Three roller coasters operate inside the park, ranging from a family-friendly option with moderate drops to two high-speed coasters. SuperFly is the headline thrill ride — a freefall tower that launches riders skyward above the park, offering brief views across the Hittin skyline before the drop. Snow Blast is a winter-themed ride that combines a dark ride section with a water element.

BLVD Dolphinarium

An indoor marine show featuring dolphin and seal performances. Shows run three to four times daily, and separate tickets are required (typically SAR 50–100). Arrive 20 minutes early — front rows get splashed.

Hotel Terror Haunted House

A walk-through horror attraction with live actors and elaborate set design. Not recommended for children under 12. Wait times peak at 30–40 minutes on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Amazonia Awakens

A jungle-themed dark ride combining animatronics with projection mapping to simulate a journey through the Amazon rainforest. It sits inside the Brazil/Peru zone and is suitable for all ages.

Courchevel Zone

A year-round snow experience themed as a French Alpine ski resort. Visitors can enter a chilled indoor area with real snow, winter decorations and hot chocolate stalls. A small tubing slope keeps children entertained.

Food and Dining

With around 350 restaurants and food outlets across the park, eating is half the experience at Boulevard World. The food is categorised by zone, so dining choices map naturally onto whichever part of the park you are exploring.

Cuisine Zone What to Try
Japanese ramen and sushi Japan Zone Tonkotsu ramen, salmon nigiri

Tip: Prices inside Boulevard World run 20–40% above normal Riyadh restaurant prices. A main course typically costs SAR 45–90 (USD 12–24). Budget accordingly, or eat before entering and treat the park as a snacking and dessert crawl.

Boulevard World entry tickets are sold through webook.com, the official ticketing platform for Riyadh Season. Prices for the 2025–26 season are:

Getting to Boulevard World

Boulevard World sits in Riyadh’s Hittin district on Prince Turki al-Awwal Road, roughly 20 km northwest of central Riyadh and 35 km from King Khalid International Airport.

By Metro

Riyadh Metro’s KAFD station is the closest stop, sitting at the junction of the Blue, Yellow and Purple lines. From KAFD, it is a short taxi or ride-hail trip (5–10 minutes) to the Boulevard World gates. The metro is the most reliable option for avoiding Riyadh’s traffic, particularly on weekend evenings. Check our Riyadh airport-to-city transport guide for connections from King Khalid.

By Taxi or Ride-Hail

Uber and Careem both operate in Riyadh and are the easiest way to reach the park. Select “Boulevard World” or “Boulevard Riyadh City” as your destination — both appear in the apps. From central Riyadh (Olaya Street area), the ride takes 15–25 minutes outside peak hours. From the airport, allow 25–40 minutes.

By Car

Follow event signage from Prince Turki al-Awwal Road to dedicated parking zones. Parking is free but fills quickly on weekends. Arrive by 5 PM on Thursdays and Fridays to secure a close spot. Allow extra time for security screening at the vehicle checkpoints.

Visa Requirements

All international visitors need a valid visa to enter Saudi Arabia. The Saudi tourist e-visa is available online for citizens of 63 countries, costs USD 160 (including insurance), and is valid for one year with multiple entries of up to 90 days each. GCC nationals do not require a visa.

Best Time to Visit

Boulevard World only operates during Riyadh Season, typically October through April or early May. Within that window:

    • October–November: Opening weeks bring the newest attractions and installations. Weather is warm but comfortable in the evening (25–30°C after sunset). Crowds are moderate.
    • December–February: Peak season. Riyadh’s coolest months (15–20°C evenings) make outdoor walking pleasant. Expect the biggest crowds and most headline concerts at adjacent Boulevard City.
    • March–April: Ramadan period offers reduced ticket prices and a unique late-night atmosphere. Temperatures begin rising but evenings remain manageable.
    • Weekday vs. weekend: Thursday and Friday evenings are by far the busiest. Sunday through Wednesday offer shorter queues and a more relaxed experience.

    Tips for Families

Boulevard World is one of Riyadh’s best family-friendly attractions. A few practical tips for visiting with children:

    • Pushchairs work: The pathways between zones are paved and flat. Bring a stroller for children under 5 — the park is large and you will walk 5–8 km in a full circuit.
    • Start early: Gates open at 4 PM. Arriving at opening means shorter queues for rides and first pick of restaurant tables.
    • Snow Blast and Courchevel are the top picks for younger children — no height restrictions, and the novelty of real snow in the Arabian desert delights kids of all ages.
    • Skip Hotel Terror if your children are under 12. Live-actor horror is intense.
    • Water taxis on the Aroya Lagoon are a good mid-visit rest for tired legs.
    • Check out other theme parks across Saudi Arabia if your family enjoys Boulevard World.

    What to Wear

Saudi Arabia has relaxed its dress code significantly for tourists, and Boulevard World is one of the more casual environments in the Kingdom. Comfortable walking shoes are essential — you will cover significant ground. Light layers work best: evenings can cool to 15°C in December–January, but the walking keeps you warm. Modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered) is respectful and avoids any issues at security.

    Boulevard World vs. Boulevard City

First-time visitors to Riyadh Season often confuse Boulevard World with neighbouring Boulevard Riyadh City. They are separate zones with different characters:

    Boulevard World Boulevard City
Focus Themed country zones, rides, cultural immersion Concerts, restaurants, nightlife, celebrity events
Atmosphere Theme park / world’s fair Open-air urban entertainment district
Best for Families, cultural explorers, first-time visitors Nightlife seekers, concert-goers, foodies
Entry price SAR 29–58 SAR 25–50
Rides Yes (40+ rides) No dedicated rides

Both zones sit on Prince Turki al-Awwal Road in Hittin and share parking infrastructure. Many visitors do both in one trip — Boulevard World in the late afternoon, then Boulevard City after 10 PM for the concert and dining scene. If you are planning a broader Riyadh itinerary, see our full Riyadh travel guide for day-by-day suggestions.

    Nearby Attractions

Boulevard World sits within easy reach of several other Riyadh highlights:

    • Kingdom Centre Tower: Riyadh’s most recognisable skyscraper, 15 minutes by car. The Sky Bridge observation deck offers panoramic views.
    • King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD): Adjacent to the metro station you will likely use to reach Boulevard World. The district’s architecture is worth a walk-through.
    • National Museum: For daytime cultural context before an evening at Boulevard World, the National Museum on King Faisal Road covers Saudi history from prehistory through unification.
    • Diriyah: The UNESCO-listed birthplace of the Saudi state, 20 minutes from Boulevard World. A day trip to Diriyah pairs well with an evening at the park.
    • Formula E Riyadh: If your visit coincides with the Formula E race weekend, the Diriyah circuit is nearby.

    Practical Information

    Money

All vendors inside Boulevard World accept card payments (Visa, Mastercard, mada). ATMs are available near the main gates. The Saudi Riyal (SAR) is pegged to the US Dollar at approximately SAR 3.75 = USD 1.

    Connectivity

Free Wi-Fi is available in some zones but can be slow during peak hours. A local Saudi SIM card (STC, Mobily or Zain) with a data package is recommended for ride-hail apps and real-time navigation inside the park.

    Accessibility

Wheelchair-accessible pathways connect all zones. Dedicated viewing areas exist at the lagoon shows. The park provides wheelchair rental at the main entrance on a first-come basis.

    Safety

Security screening operates at all vehicle and pedestrian entry points. Bag searches are standard. The park is well-lit, well-staffed and considered very safe for solo travellers and families. Emergency medical stations are located near the Egypt Zone and the main entrance.
