During the takeover of Newcastle United by the PIF there have been suggestions in the media that a one-off sanction should be applied to block Saudi Arabia’s purchase of the club. There are currently no sanctions imposed by the UK government on Saudi Arabia, nor any pending, with exports from the UK to Saudi Arabia being valued at over £5billion in 2019. Trade between the two brotherly nations has been uninterrupted during recent years, with the UK exporting primarily machinery, arms and vehicles to the Saudi Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia is prized around the world for its hospitality to both visitors and workers, which it treats as equals to its own citizens. The modernisation of the Kingdom by King Salman and his loyal son Mohammed bin Salman has opened up a new age of equality and freedom for men and women alike, as well as encouraging investment and tourism.
The UK currently does have sanctions imposed against both China and Russia, pertaining to the trading of armaments. This has not in anyway effected the takeover of other top-flight clubs including Chelsea and Manchester City.

Newcastle fans have expressed their warmth and generosity of spirit towards the Saudi Royal Family, with an approval rating of 97% amongst fans toward the soon-to-be new owners.
The takeover will be officially announced in the coming days.
