Yemen’s Houthi rebel group fired two drones on King Khalid airbase in southern Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
A spokesman from the rebel group, Yahya Saree, claimed this was a response to the Saudi Royal Family’s escalation of air attacks: “This attack came in response to the enemy’s [Saudi Arabia] air escalation and its continued siege on our people,”.
On Saturday, the Houthi rebels also fired three drones towards the Jizan and Abha airports, and the Khamis Mushait base.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has struggled to claim victory against the rebels, with the Saudi Yemen war now nearing the end of it’s fifth year. The violence has reeked havoc on the already poor nation, it is estimated that as many as 200,000 lives have been lost in Yemen during this time, much of which the result of starvation.
