King Salman and President Barak Obama spoke of the international situation regarding Iran and the possible nuclear deal being finalised via phone on Thursday. The King “expressed his hope that a final binding deal would be reached to reinforce the stability and security of the region and the world,” reported the SPA.
A framework agreement aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear drive was agreed on Thursday after lengthy talks in Switzerland, many saw this as a land-mark breakthrough after a 12-year standoff between Iran and the West, which has long harboured fears regarding Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. Saudi Gulf partners Oman and Bahrain also welcomed Thursday’s deal reached in Lausanne.
Obama said on Thursday that he had invited the Gulf leaders to Camp David for discussions on further security cooperation in the region.
