Talks are currently underway between Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and Olympique de Marseille owners, with Prince Alwaleed keen to purchase the French club which he views as a prime investment.

Prince Alwaleed is looking to purchase the Olympique de Marseille for €250 million, a deal he attempted but failed to make in 2014. Prince Alwaleed has seen his net worth drop by 70% since its peak in 2014, with a conflagration of negative events including his arrest for corruption in 2017, a decline in value of his company Kingdom Holdings, and the drop in Aramco’s value this year.

He is hoping to rebound with a series of fresh investments, starting with Marseille. The Prince is known for his extravagant tastes, including a $500 million Airbus with gold-plated interior, a Boeing 747, over 200 luxury cars, and a $500 million luxury yacht.

Prince Alwaleed’s current holdings include one of London’s most popular hotels, the Savoy, and the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris. The Prince also co-owns Four Seasons Hotel Group with Bill Gates, and owns the Raffles Seychelles Resort.
