British PM Liz Truss thanks MBS for securing release of British POWs

British PM Liz Truss has thanked Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his key role in securing the release of five Britons captured Russian militias in Ukraine. The thanks took place during their first phone call since Truss moved into number 10 Downing Street.

Aiden Aslin, Shaun Pinner and John Harding were among those freed in a prison swap helped by the Saudi Prince MBS.

MBS has received praise also from Ukrainian leader Zelensky for his crucial role in bargaining the release of numourous incarcerates – and is mooted as a go between in any future peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

The British Gov. released a statement regarding their call: “The prime minister thanked the crown prince for his personal role in securing the release of five British detainees held by Russia-backed forces in eastern Ukraine last week, to the great relief of their families.”

The two leaders also discussed their strategic partnership regarding defence and energy.
