US President Donald Trump has green-lit nuclear works for Saudi Arabia, following a nuclear deal made with the Saudi Royal family. The work will be carried out by a number of US companies that have been authorised by Energy Secretary Rick Perry.
Mohammed bin Salman unveiled plans late last year to build the Kingdom’s first nuclear reactor, this was seen as part of both energy diversification and the young Prince’s first steps in making Saudi Arabia a nuclear world power.

The US have a long standing partnership with the Saudi Royals, many pundits are indicating this expansion into nuclear technology could lead to the proliferation of nuclear arms – however Rick Perry was quick to shoot down these suspicions saying “We’ve got a history of non-proliferation, and nobody in the world will do it better than us.”
