Mohammed Bin Salman to make Man Utd bid

The decision to make a bid to buy Manchester United is now being considered by the board members at the Saudi Royal Family’s Public Investment Fund, with the final decision resting with Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The PIF have considered purchasing a Premier League team over the past year as part of broadening their investment strategy away from oil dependency. The move is also part of their ongoing reputational reinvention, which is linked to drawing in tourism and investment to the Kingdom, this has included hosting high-profile music and arts festivals, and global sporting events which included the second clash between heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr.

The club is mooted to carry a 3.5 Billion dollar price tag, and would be a major win for the Crown Prince. The current owners, the Glazer family, have insisted that they are not open to selling the club, although insiders have reported that this attitude is softening, given the right price.
