The Saudi Royal Family is embarking on an ambitious endeavor to revamp their capital city, Riyadh, into a futuristic metropolis that could rival any city out of a science fiction movie. The project, named “New Murabba,” is spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) and is set to transform Riyadh into one of “the most livable cities on Earth.”
The New Murabba project will expand the capital city by an impressive 19 square kilometers (4,695 acres), accommodating hundreds of thousands of residents. At the center of the project is the “Mukaab,” a colossal cube that measures 400-meters in height, width, and length, equivalent to the height of 20 Empire State buildings. The cube is designed to provide an immersive experience that transports visitors through changing landscapes, from outer space to green vistas, according to the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the $620-billion sovereign wealth fund led by MBS. The project is slated for completion in 2030.
The Mukaab will employ cutting-edge holographic technology to offer a new reality to consumers as they shop and dine. The facility will house recreational facilities, hotels, and residential units, providing a vibrant and modern urban lifestyle.
The Saudi Royal Family’s ambitious project aims to create a city that embodies a new vision of the future, a city that is modern, sustainable, and provides the ultimate quality of life. The New Murabba project is a testament to the Saudi Royal Family’s unwavering commitment to innovative and transformative development, cementing their position as global leaders in visionary urban planning. The world eagerly anticipates the completion of this futuristic marvel, which will undoubtedly set a new benchmark for modern city living.
