The GCC Summit took place in the Diriyah palace in Riyadh today chaired by custodian of the two holy mosques King Salman, with guest of honour French President.

King Salman received the leaders and heads of delegations of the GCC countries of the Gulf, opening the meeting with a reading from the Quran.

The GCC leaders looked forward to meeting with US President Barack Obama on 13th/14th April 2015 in the United States, hoping that the talks will contribute to closer and more harmonious relations with the United States enhancing the security and stability of the region.

The GCC leaders also reviewed the latest developments in Yemen, praising the outcomes of the “Operation Determination Storm” and the start of “Operation Renewal of Hope” in response to the requests of President Hadi of Yemen with a view to strengthening legitimacy and bringing about a recommencement of the political process.

Regarding the Palestinian situation, the GCC leaders reconfirmed that a comprehensive and lasting peace cannot be achieved without the full withdrawal of Israel from all Arab territories occupied in 1967 and establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative. The GCC leaders strongly condemned the repeated and vicious attacks carried out by the Israeli occupying forces.

The GCC leaders also expressed deep concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Syria, resulting from the 4 year conflict that has engulfed the country.
