At Ali al-Salem, the IRGC claimed the early-warning radar was “completely destroyed” — not damaged, not degraded, but “completely destroyed” — alongside strikes on an aviation equipment depot, a spare-parts hangar, and MQ-9 drone shelters that reportedly caused multiple drones to catch fire.

The damage discrepancy follows a pattern consistent across all 22 waves: the IRGC claims systemic destruction, the US provides no immediate assessment, and the host nation denies the event occurred.

At Aqaba, Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad Al-Momani stated that “no potential threats have been recorded by the relevant Jordanian authorities in the past few hours” and that “the airport and port are operating normally.” Hours earlier, the US Embassy in Amman had issued a security alert citing a “specific and credible threat” to the port and airport, stating both sites had been evacuated. Jordan directly contradicted the American assessment.

Open-source satellite imagery analyzed before the strike provided partial context for what was on the ground at Aqaba. PAC-3 interceptors are optimized for ballistic trajectories — high-altitude, high-speed, predictable flight paths. Saudi Arabia has no indigenous fixed-wing maritime patrol capability. Four C-27J aircraft ordered from Leonardo for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces in February 2026 will not begin deliveries until 2029. At peak capacity the facility handles roughly five to seven million barrels per day — approximately five to seven percent of global supply. The September 2019 attack temporarily removed 5.7 million barrels per day from the market, causing a 15 percent intraday spike in Brent crude and demonstrating that a single facility can function as a single point of failure for global energy markets. Abqaiq sits approximately 60 kilometres from the Gulf coast, within cruise missile range of any vessel in the central Gulf.
